أَمّاas for اِبنُson of طَوقٍTawq فَقَدso indeed أَوفىkept faith بِذِمَّتِهِwith his pledge
أَمّا اِبنُ طَوقٍ فَقَد أَوفى بِذِمَّتِهِ
كَماjust as وَفىkept faith بِقِلاصِwith the young she-camels of النَجمِthe star حاديهاtheir camel-driver
كَما وَفى بِقِلاصِ النَجمِ حاديها
As for Ibn Tawq, he has kept his pledge,
Ibn Tuwaq has fulfilled his duty
As their driver kept faith with the star’s young she-camels.
As the guide of a star fulfills guiding it
قَدindeed حَلَّsettled on رابِيَةًa hill لَمdid not يَعلُهاascend it أَحَدٌanyone
قَد حَلَّ رابِيَةً لَم يَعلُها أَحَدٌ
صَعباًrugged مُباءَتُهاits dwelling place صَعباًrugged مَراقيهاits paths of ascent
صَعباً مُباءَتُها صَعباً مَراقيها
He has settled on a hill that no one has climbed,
He has solved a problem that no one else could
Rugged is its dwelling place, rugged its paths of ascent.
It was hard to face, hard to overcome
