- ألا أيها البيت الذي أنا هاجرهAh, O house that I am leaving,
- ألا حي ليلى إذ ألم لمامهاAh, greet Layla for me when her fleeting visit comes.
- ألا طرقت ليلى وساقي رهينةLo, Layla visited by night, while my leg lay captive,
- تمنت سليمى أن أقيم بأرضهاSulayma wished that I would dwell in her land.
- فلا تيأسا من رحمة الله وانظراSo do not despair of God's mercy, you two, and wait
- فمن مبلغ عني خليلي مالكاWho will convey on my behalf to my friend Malik,
