مَنwho مُبلِغَwill tell جِذميmy clan بِأَنّيthat I am مَقتولslain
مَن مُبلِغَ جِذمي بِأَنّي مَقتول
ياah رُبَّmany a نَهبٍplunder قَدindeed حَوَيتُI gathered عُثكولa great heap
يا رُبَّ نَهبٍ قَد حَوَيتُ عُثكول
Who will tell my clan that I am slain?
Ah, many a great heap of plunder I have gathered;
وَرُبَّand many a قِرنٍrival قَدindeed تَرَكتُI left مَجدولfelled
وَرُبَّ قِرنٍ قَد تَرَكتُ مَجدول
وَرُبَّand many a زَوجٍwife قَدindeed نَكَحتُI wed عُطبولgraceful and long-necked
وَرُبَّ زَوجٍ قَد نَكَحتُ عُطبول
And many a rival I have left laid low;
And many a graceful, long-necked wife I have wed;
وَرُبَّand many a عانٍcaptive قَدindeed فَكَكتُI freed مَكبولfettered
وَرُبَّ عانٍ قَد فَكَكتُ مَكبول
وَرُبَّand many a وادٍvalley قَدindeed قَطَعتُI crossed مَسبولrain-soaked
وَرُبَّ وادٍ قَد قَطَعتُ مَسبول
And many a fettered captive I have set free;
And many a rain-soaked valley I have crossed.
