The two Amrs call me a liar—Amr son of Jandab,
And Amr son of Sa'd; yet the accuser is the greater liar.

May I be bereft of you both if I have not seen them:
Squadrons guided toward the tribe by a star.
سَعَيتُI hastened لَعَمريby my life سَعيَthe striving of غَيرِone not مُعَجَّزٍdeemed incapable

I hastened, by my life, as one neither feeble
Nor fainthearted—if only I were not called a liar!

Squadrons with al-Hawfazan among them, and around him
Hammam's horsemen, who mount whenever he calls.

May you lose one another! Would I fail to recognize a raiding troop
At dawn, led by a chestnut horse with white eyelashes?
