لِمَنto whom بَعدَهُafter him أَسيافُهُhis swords وَقَناهُand his spears
لِمَن بَعدَهُ أَسيافُهُ وَقَناهُ
وَمَنand who يولِعُrouses البيضَthe white swords الرِقاقَthe slender ones سِواهُother than him
وَمَن يولِعُ البيضَ الرِقاقَ سِواهُ
To whom do his swords and spears belong after him?
To whom after him are his swords and spear
And who but he rouses the slender white swords?
And who would set the fragile eggs afire but him
فَقَدfor indeed كانَhe was يَرجوhoping أَنto يَنالَattain مُناهُhis heart’s desire
فَقَد كانَ يَرجو أَن يَنالَ مُناهُ
فَخَلَّفَنيyet he left me behind فَرداًalone وَنالَand he met رَداهُhis death
فَخَلَّفَني فَرداً وَنالَ رَداهُ
For he had hoped to attain his heart’s desire,
He had hoped to attain his wishes
Yet he left me alone and met his death.
So he left me alone and attained his reward
