فَلَوthen if كُنتَyou were شاهِدَهاwitnessing her فيin الدُجىthe darkness
فَلَو كُنتَ شاهِدَها في الدُجى
وَقَدwhile already ضَمَّهاenfolded her البَلَدُthe land الأَفيَحُthe spacious
وَقَد ضَمَّها البَلَدُ الأَفيَحُ
Then, had you seen her in the darkness,
If you had seen her in the darkness,
with the vast land enfolding her,
embraced by the wide open country,
إِذاwhen ذَكَرَتكَshe remembered you عَلىin وِنيَةٍweariness
إِذا ذَكَرَتكَ عَلى وِنيَةٍ
رَأَيتَyou saw ذَفاريَّهاthe parts of her nape behind her ears تَنضَحُoozing sweat
رَأَيتَ ذَفاريَّها تَنضَحُ
when she remembered you in her weariness,
when she remembers you with longing,
you would have seen sweat seeping from behind her ears.
you would see her eyes overflow.
