عُمرَthroughout the lifetime of الزَمانِtime وَغَيرُكَand someone other than you المَملولُthe one others tire of
عُمرَ الزَمانِ وَغَيرُكَ المَملولُ
Others, not I, turn away from sincere affection,
Others turn away from sincere love
For as long as time lasts; it is others, not you, of whom one tires.
As time passes and you remain unchanged
أَتَظُنُّdo you think أَنّيthat I بِالقَطيعَةِfor severing ties راغِبٌdesirous
أَتَظُنُّ أَنّي بِالقَطيعَةِ راغِبٌ
هَيهاتَfar from it وَجهُكَyour face بِالوَفاءِof fidelity كَفيلُa guarantor
هَيهاتَ وَجهُكَ بِالوَفاءِ كَفيلُ
Do you think I desire to sever our ties?
Do you think I desire separation?
Far from it! Your face guarantees fidelity.
Never! Your face guarantees loyalty
وَكَذاand likewise الصَديقُthe friend إِذاwhen أَرادَhe wished قَطيعَتيsevering ties with me
وَكَذا الصَديقُ إِذا أَرادَ قَطيعَتي

ظَنَّ الظُنونَ وَقالَ أَنتَ مَلولُ
And likewise, when a friend wishes to break with me,
And so it is when a friend wants to cut ties
He entertains suspicions and says, 'You are easily bored.'
He suspects and says “you are fickle”
