Nothing of proud defiance remains in me except the
Nothing remains in me of dignity except
gaze reddened with anger,
A glance reddened with anger

Or a sigh for which ribs are considered
like curved bow frames shooting flames.
Frames of an arduous fire within me

Gone are those men; ever since they parted
The first men have passed away since they
from me, Time has been toying with me.
Parted from me, time began to play with me
أَقولُI say لَمّاwhen عَدِمتُI lost نَصرَهُمُtheir aid

I say, now that I have lost their aid:
When I lost their support, I say
Oh, my mother's anguish for you, and my father's!
My mother and father long for you
