May God water a day whose cups came to our aid,

at a time when Time offered no helper.

We unveiled the wine that day, until it shed

its bubbles, revealing its rosy hue.

We clear its foam away for ourselves, as though it were

    a mote drifting between a sore-eyed man's eyelids.

And many a faithful drinking companion—wine steals his reason,

while his cheeks rob it of the beauty of its rosy blush.

So may the days' changing fortunes never cease to flow

upon us with a life to be envied, forever.
