I held fast the reins of every journeying raincloud,
I held fast the reins of every passing raincloud,
laden with the weight of downpours, lumbering heavily,
Bearing the burden of showers, heavy-laden,
حَتّىuntil يَشُقَّit splits open عَلىover العَقيقِal-ʿAqīq مَزادَهُits waterskins
حَتّى يَشُقَّ عَلى العَقيقِ مَزادَهُ

مِن غابِقٍ لِرِياضِهِ أَو صابِحِ
until it opens its waterskin over al-ʿAqīq,
Until it splits open its waterskins over al-ʿAqīq,
pouring from it an evening draught for its meadows—or a morning one.
Whether giving its gardens an evening drink or a morning one.
