ذَكَرتُI remembered عَلىduring فَترَةٍa lull مِنfrom مِراحِmerriment
ذَكَرتُ عَلى فَترَةٍ مِن مِراحِ
مَنازِلَdwellings بَينَbetween قَناًQanā فَالصَفاحِand al-Ṣafāḥ
مَنازِلَ بَينَ قَناً فَالصَفاحِ
After a lull in revelry, I remembered
I remembered, during a lull in merriment,
the encampments between Qanā and al-Ṣafāḥ,
Dwellings between Qanā and al-Ṣafāḥ,
وَأَرضاًand a land تَبَدَّلَhad taken in exchange قُطّانُهاits inhabitants
وَأَرضاً تَبَدَّلَ قُطّانُها
مَجَرَّthe trails left by القَناthe spears بِمَجَرِّin place of the furrows of المَساحيthe hoes
مَجَرَّ القَنا بِمَجَرِّ المَساحي
and a land whose inhabitants had taken up
And a land whose inhabitants had exchanged
the sweep of lances in place of the furrows of hoes.
The furrows of hoes for the trails of spears.
