Beware, for the lion has bared his fang;
Beware, for the lion has freed its claws,
And the unerring archer has strung his bow and twanged its string.
And the skilled archer has drawn and cocked his bow.
أُسَرُI am gladdened بِمَنby one who أَرجاdeferred إِلىuntil اليَومِtoday يَومَهُhis day
فَأَدرَكَso he attained ماwhat يَهوىhe desires وَآسىand I grieve لِمَنfor those who مَضىpassed away
I rejoice for him who deferred his day until today:
I rejoice for him who puts his hope in this day,
So he attained what he desires, and I grieve for those who have passed away.
For he has attained what he desires though others have passed away.
وَقَدand indeed كُنتُI was أَدعوpraying أَنthat تُؤَخَّرَbe prolonged مُدَّتيmy allotted span
لَعَلّيperhaps I أَرىI see يَوماًa day مِنَfrom العَدلِjustice أَبيَضاwhite
And I used to pray that my allotted span be prolonged,
I used to pray that my time might be delayed,
In the hope that I might see a day white with justice.
That I might one day see a day of justice dawn white.
