    ما بَينَ ناءٍ نازِحٍ وَقَريبِ

    No, by Him to whose House the pilgrims journey,

    whether far away and remote or nearby;

    and by the Hijr and the kissed Stone, where meet

    the lips, and by its veiled corner:

    may the place you were given to possess

    between my ribs belong to no beloved after this.

    Indeed, I have found a sweetness in you within my breast,

    not the sweetness of food or drink.

    Mine is the sufferer's moan when the distance grows

    between us, and the anguished one's sigh.
