وَلاحَتand came into view لَناbefore us أَبياتُdwellings آلِfamily of مُحَرِّقٍMuḥarriq
وَلاحَت لَنا أَبياتُ آلِ مُحَرِّقٍ
بِهاin them اللُؤمُbaseness ثاوٍdwelling لاnot يَروحُdeparts in the evening وَلاand not يَغدوdeparts in the morning
بِها اللُؤمُ ثاوٍ لا يَروحُ وَلا يَغدو
And the dwellings of Muḥarriq's family came into view before us;
The tents of Al Muharraq's family appeared to us
There baseness dwells, departing neither in the evening nor in the morning.
In them cowardice resides, neither coming nor going
خِيامٌtents قَصيراتُshort العِمادِthe tent poles كَأَنَّهاas though they were
خِيامٌ قَصيراتُ العِمادِ كَأَنَّها
كِلابٌdogs عَلىon الأَذنابِthe tails مُقعِيَةٌsquatting رُبدُash-gray
كِلابٌ عَلى الأَذنابِ مُقعِيَةٌ رُبدُ
Tents with short poles, as though they were
Short pillared tents as though they were
Ash-gray dogs squatting on their tails.
Dogs crouching on their tails, shivering
