ضُمّوا قَواصِيَ كُلِّ سَرحٍ سارِبِ

وَقِفوا السَوائِمَ بِالنَدى المُتَقارِبِ

وَقِفوا السَوائِمَ بِالنَدى المُتَقارِبِ

Gather in the outlying beasts of every freely roaming herd;

Gather the outlying beasts of every roaming herd,

And keep the grazing beasts by water close at hand.

And keep the grazing animals on nearby dew-wet pasture.

فَلَقَد مَضى حامي السُروحِ مِنَ العِدى

فَلَقَد مَضى حامي السُروحِ مِنَ العِدى

وَمُبيحُ أَسوُقِها غِرارَ القاضِبِ

وَمُبيحُ أَسوُقِها غِرارَ القاضِبِ

For gone is the guardian of the herds against their foes,

For gone is he who guarded the herds from foes,

And he who yielded those foes’ shanks to the keen edge of the cutting sword.

And laid their shanks open to the keen sword’s edge.
