نَفاثاتٌoutpourings يَجيشُseethes بِهاwith them الجَنانُthe heart
نَفاثاتٌ يَجيشُ بِها الجَنانُ
It is not from emptiness that there rise from me
And not from idleness do they rise from me—
outpourings with which the heart surges;
Outpourings with which the heart seethes.
وَلَكِنbut مُهجَةٌa soul مُلِئَتwas filled فَفاضَتso it overflowed
وَلَكِن مُهجَةٌ مُلِئَت فَفاضَت

وَضاقَ القَلبُ وَاِتَّسَعَ اللِسانُ
rather, a soul was filled and overflowed—
Rather, a soul was filled and so overflowed;
the heart grew constricted, and the tongue expanded.
And the heart grew narrow, and the tongue grew wide.
