بِبَطحاءَon the gravelly plain of قَومٍa people عَنfrom over قَتيلٍone slain وَقاتِلِand a slayer
بِبَطحاءَ قَومٍ عَن قَتيلٍ وَقاتِلِ
And many a battleground of union, whose dust is cleared
A battlefield for reunion made clear by the croaking of its frogs
On a people's gravelly plain, revealing one slain and one slayer;
In the lowlands of a people mourning their dead and their killer
وَأَكثَرُand most ماwhat يُلقىis found بِهِin it غِبَّafter نَومِهِits sleep
وَأَكثَرُ ما يُلقى بِهِ غِبَّ نَومِهِ
سِقاطُfallen pieces اللَآليthe pearls أَوor فُصومُbroken pieces الخَلاخِلِthe anklets
سِقاطُ اللَآلي أَو فُصومُ الخَلاخِلِ
And most of what is found there after its slumber
And most disturbing its sleep are the falling stars
Is fallen pearls or broken pieces of anklets.
Or the clinking of anklets
