If calamity grows insolent, have no fear.
If the worst of calamities befall, no panic,
Or if the matter grows grave, let there be beautiful patience.
Or the matter grows grave, patience is good.
لِيُهوِنِlet him make light المَرءُa man بِأَيّامِهِof his days
لِيُهوِنِ المَرءُ بِأَيّامِهِ
إِنَّindeed مُقامَthe stay المَرءِof a man فيهاin them قَليلbrief
إِنَّ مُقامَ المَرءِ فيها قَليل
Let a man make light of his days;
So one may make light of his days,
Indeed, a man's stay in them is brief.
Since one's stay therein is but brief.

كَرامَةُthe honor البَيتِof the house وَعِزُّand the might القَبيلof the tribe
كَرامَةُ البَيتِ وَعِزُّ القَبيل
Can your soul, which you have abased, benefit from
Does it profit you to humiliate yourself
The honor of the house and the might of the tribe?
When dignity is your house and the tribe's glory?
إِنّاindeed we إِلىto اللَهِGod وَإِنّاand indeed we لَهُbelonging to Him

Indeed, to God we go, and indeed, to Him we belong.
To God we belong and to Him we return.
And God suffices us, and what an excellent Guardian He is!
God suffices us, an excellent Guardian.
