مَنwhoever يَكُنis زائِريmy visitor يَجِدنيwill find me مُقيماًabiding
أُتبِعُI send after الغانِياتِthe beautiful women بِالزَفَراتِwith sighs
Whoever visits me will find me abiding,
Whoever comes to visit me will find me residing,
I send sighs after the beautiful women,
I follow songs with sighs,
فيamong نَدامىdrinking companions عَلىupon الهُمومِsorrows قُعودٌseated
يَدعَمونَthey prop up الأَذقانَthe chins بِالراحاتِwith the palms
among drinking companions seated in sorrow,
Sitting regretfully because of sorrows,
propping their chins upon their palms.
They support their cheeks with their palms.
كُلَّماwhenever أَنزَفواthey ran dry مِنَof الدَمعِtears مدَّتreplenished
هُمthem دَواعيthe stirrings الهُمومِof sorrow بِالعَبَراتِwith tears
Whenever they run dry of tears, they are replenished
Whenever they shed tears,
by the stirrings of sorrow with tears.
The causes of sorrow supply them with more.
