أَهدَيتُ شعراً نَظيفاً

أَهدَيتُ شعراً نَظيفاً

إِلى عَلي بنِ نَظيفِ

إِلى عَلي بنِ نَظيفِ

I presented clean verse

I gifted clean poetry

to Ali ibn Nazif,

To Ali the son of cleanliness

وَما عَلِمتُ بِأَنّي

وَما عَلِمتُ بِأَنّي

أَلقَيتُهُ في الكَنيفِ

أَلقَيتُهُ في الكَنيفِ

and I did not know that I

And I did not know that

had thrown it into the privy.

I threw it in the trash
