فَبادِرso hasten بِناwith us ياO أَخيmy brother فُرصَةًan opportunity
فَلَذَّةُfor the pleasure of ذاthis الدَهرِlife تُستَفرَصُis seized as an opportunity
So hasten with us, my brother, while there is a chance;
So hasten with us, my brother, to seize a chance—
for the delight of this life must be seized.
for the pleasure of this life is to be seized—
لِنَنظُرَthat we may behold دَوحاًspreading trees وَورَقاًand leaves عَلىupon
ذَوائِبِthe tips of أَغصانِهاtheir branches تَرقُصُdance
Let us surely behold broad-canopied trees, and leaves
that we may behold spreading trees, and leaves upon
dancing upon the tresses of their boughs;
the tips of their branches, dancing;
وَوَرداًand roses هُوَit المِسكُmusk فيin نَشرِهِits fragrance
إِذاwhen فاحَgives off fragrance لَكِنَّهُbut it أَرخَصُcheaper
and a rose that is musk in the spreading of its scent—
and roses, which are musk in their fragrance
when it breathes perfume, though it is cheaper;
when their scent wafts, though they are cheaper.
يُريكَshows you خُدودَthe cheeks of الغَوانيbeautiful women غَدَتhave become

it shows you the cheeks of beautiful women, now
They show you beauties' cheeks that are now
being pinched by their lovers’ fingernails;
being pinched by their lovers' fingernails;

and water, clear and sweet to the taste,
and water, clear and sweet to taste,
grown delicate and abundant, never dwindling.
grown limpid and abundant, never running low.
فَقُمso rise لِنَرىthat we may see حُسنَthe beauty of صُنعِthe handiwork of الإِلَهِGod
فَماfor not زِلتَyou have ceased فيin مِثلِthe like of ذاthis تَحرِصُyou are eager
Then rise, that we may behold the beauty of God’s handiwork;
So rise, that we may see the beauty of God's handiwork,
you have never ceased to long for such a thing.
for you have always been eager for such things.
