Do not fear the talebearers, and visit me.

For the talebearer's words are false testimony.

Your cheeks are the rose in double bloom; from it

I have a hue like that of yellow stock.

You have embittered my life through estrangement.

What life is there for a forsaken lover?

You have humbled me, though I was honored,

In a sanctuary within the quarter of al-Shaghur,

Among men who do not fear death,

While the fire of battle blazes fiercely.

They sheathe their swords in their enemies' heads,

Until they pass beyond the bounds of their chests.

The swords are fires—so marvel at fires

Seen issuing from their palms amid seas.

I excel in praising them, without reward,

But out of love for them within my heart.
