إِنَّ الأَمينِيَّةَ الَّتي شَرُفَت
بِمَعشَرٍby a company فيamong الوَرىhumankind لَهُمthey have شانstanding
بِمَعشَرٍ في الوَرى لَهُم شان
Indeed, the Aminiyya, which rose to honor
Indeed, al-Aminiyya, which was honored
through a company of standing among humankind—
by a company of standing among humankind:
مُشرِفُهُمtheir overseer مُسرِفٌa spendthrift وَعامِلُهُمand their administrator
مُشرِفُهُم مُسرِفٌ وَعامِلُهُم
مُعامِلٌa moneylender وَالأَمينُand the trustee خَوّانُan inveterate traitor
مُعامِلٌ وَالأَمينُ خَوّانُ
their overseer is a spendthrift, and their official
their overseer is a spendthrift, and their administrator
a crooked dealer—and the trusted man, a rank traitor.
