وَبِالزَّبَدانِيِّand in al-Zabadani الكُرومُthe vineyards كَثيرَةٌnumerous
وَبِالزَّبَدانِيِّ الكُرومُ كَثيرَةٌ
وَلكِنَّهاbut they أَضحَتhave become لِغَيرِbelonging to those who are not كرامِnoble men
وَلكِنَّها أَضحَت لِغَيرِ كرامِ
And in al-Zabadani the vineyards are many,
The vineyards of Zabadani abound,
but they have come to belong to men without nobility.
Yet they have become for the unworthy.
وَلَوand if حَفِظواthey guarded أَعراضَهُمtheir honor مِثلَlike حفظِهاguarding them
وَلَو حَفِظوا أَعراضَهُم مِثلَ حفظِها
لَكانواthey would have been لَعَمرُby the life of اللهِGod غَيرَnot لِئامِbase men
لَكانوا لَعَمرُ اللهِ غَيرَ لِئامِ
And had they guarded their honor as they guard those vineyards,
If only they guarded their honour like guarding it,
they would, by God's life, not have been base men.
By God's life, they would not be so ignoble.
