أَينَwhere دَهائيmy cunning وَالهَوىand passion طالِبيpursuing me
أَينَ دَهائي وَالهَوى طالِبي
تَيَّمَنيenslaved me حُبُّlove of أَبيAbu طالِبِTalib
تَيَّمَني حُبُّ أَبي طالِبِ
Where is my cunning, when passion pursues me?
Where is my cunning, and desire is my pursuer
Love of Abu Talib has enslaved me.
The love of my father Abu Talib has left me an orphan
قُلتُI said لَهُto him وَالسُقمُwhile sickness قَدalready طالَlasted long بيwith me
قُلتُ لَهُ وَالسُقمُ قَد طالَ بي
صِلنيgrant me union بِحَقِّfor the sake of أَبيAbu طالِبِTalib
صِلني بِحَقِّ أَبي طالِبِ
I said to him, as sickness had long afflicted me:
I said to him, while the illness had afflicted me long
Grant me union, for Abu Talib’s sake.
Unite me in the name of my father Abu Talib
