لاno مَرحَباًwelcome بِالناقِصِto the deficient one اِبنِson of الفاضِلِal-Fadil (the virtuous)
لا مَرحَباً بِالناقِصِ اِبنِ الفاضِلِ
هَذاthis is اِبنُthe son of قُسٍّQuss فيin فَهاهَةِthe inarticulacy of باقِلِBaqil
هَذا اِبنُ قُسٍّ في فَهاهَةِ باقِلِ
No welcome to the deficient son of al-Fadil!
No welcome to the flawed son of excellence
This is Quss’s son, with Baqil’s inarticulacy.
This son of harshness, with intellect so frail
وَأَجَلُّand greater قَدراًin worth مِنهُthan he بَغلَتُهُhis mule الَّتيwhich
وَأَجَلُّ قَدراً مِنهُ بَغلَتُهُ الَّتي
أَضحىhas become أَبوهاher father مِنهُof him فَوقَabove الكاهلthe shoulders
أَضحى أَبوها مِنهُ فَوقَ الكاهل
And worthier than he is his mule, whose
Far nobler than he, the mare he rides atop
father is now the part of him above the shoulders.
While on her back, his father he derails
