مستيقظ الحزم وارى العزم ثاقبه
همومهhis concerns حينwhen تبلوهنyou test them هماتlofty aspirations
همومه حين تبلوهن همات
Vigilant in judgment, his resolve aflame and keen;
Awake with resolve, piercing vision I see
His concerns, when you test them, are lofty aspirations.
When worries afflict him, they are but inspirations
صافيpure الطويةinward intention منfrom غلrancor يكدرهاclouds it
صافي الطوية من غل يكدرها
وأولand the beginning of المجدglory أنthat تصفbe pure الطوياتinward intentions
وأول المجد أن تصف الطويات
Pure in inward intention, free from rancor that would cloud it;
Pure of spirit, from impurities kept free
And glory begins with purity of inward intentions.
The first glory is making righteous aspirations
