The beauty of your apology

my delight while drinking that wine.

فشربنا تذكارَ وجهكَ إذ كا

So we drank in remembrance of your face, since

The height of joy is in remembrance

ورأيناكَ بالقلوب أبا بك

رٍ كما قد نرَاكَ بالأَبصار

And we saw you with our hearts, Abu Bakr,

And we saw you in our hearts, O Abu Bakr

just as we may see you with our eyes.

وكأَنَّا من حُسْنِ ذكرك في رو

وكأَنَّا من حُسْنِ ذكرك في رو

ضِ شقيقٍ ونرجسٍ وبهار

ضِ شقيقٍ ونرجسٍ وبهار

And through the beauty of remembering you, we seemed to be in a meadow

And it is as if from the beauty of your mention in a garden

of anemones, narcissi, and oxeye flowers.
