Tame gazelles like the gazelles of the wild,

    And rain's tint like modesty's blush;

And a day crowned with suns

By love's purity amid the clarity of the air:

The sun of gardens, then, and the sun of wine jars,

And the sun of singing girls and the sun of the sky.

And a dark cloud scatters from its drizzle

Pearls of water upon the pearls of its blossoms.

And the rush of its east wind has begun to stir up

A dust cloud of its camphor in the open air.

    The birds remain busy there,

Exchanging varied strains of song within it.

They delight you with their voices, without a lute,

And enrapture you with piping, without a flute.

So rise; let us wrap ourselves in Time's robe,

    For Time is elegantly robed.
