الطّيبُperfume يُهدَىis given as a gift وتُستهدَىand are sought as gifts طرائِفُهُits rare varieties
الطّيبُ يُهدَى وتُستهدَى طرائِفُهُ
وأَشرَفُand the noblest النّاسِof people يُهديgives as a gift أشرَفَthe noblest الطّيبِperfume
وأَشرَفُ النّاسِ يُهدي أشرَفَ الطّيبِ
Perfume is given as a gift, and its rare varieties are sought as gifts.
The finest perfume is gifted and sought after
And the noblest of people gives the noblest perfume.
And the noblest people gift the finest perfume
والمِسكُand musk أَشبهُmost similar شيءٍthing بالشَّبابِto youth فَهَبso give
والمِسكُ أَشبهُ شيءٍ بالشَّبابِ فَهَب
شبهَthe likeness الشّبابِof youth لبعضِto some of العُصبةِthe company الشّيبِthe gray-haired
شبهَ الشّبابِ لبعضِ العُصبةِ الشّيبِ
And musk is the thing most like youth; so give
Ambergris is most like youth, so bestow
the likeness of youth to some of the gray-haired company.
