أواحدتي عصاني الصبرُ لكن

أواحدتي عصاني الصبرُ لكن

دموعُ العين سامعةٌ مطيعَة

دموعُ العين سامعةٌ مطيعَة

O my only one, patience has disobeyed me, but

My patience has become one with my stick

the eye’s tears are listening and obedient.

But tears of my eyes obey and hear

وكنتِ وديعتي ثم استردتْ

وكنتِ وديعتي ثم استردتْ

وليس بمنكرٍ ردُّ الوديعة

وليس بمنكرٍ ردُّ الوديعة

And you were a trust in my keeping, then were reclaimed;

You were once my trust, then took it back

and there is nothing objectionable in returning a trust.

It's no wonder to take back what's on trust
