وارتاحand yearned ريحانيmy basil إلىfor الراحwine
My ewers and goblets yearned,
My jugs and cups have yearned,
And my basil yearned for wine.
And my basil breathed a sigh of relief.
واشتاقand longed مصباحيmy lamp إلىfor ضوئهاits light
فإنهاfor it is مصباحُthe lamp مصباحيmy lamp
And my lamp longed for its light,
My lamp longed for its light,
For it is the lamp of my lamp.
For it is the lamp of my lamp.
وافتقدand missed التفاحُthe apples خدَّthe cheek الذيthe one who
فيon خدهhis cheek ورديmy roses وتفاحيand my apples
And the apples missed the cheek of the one
The apple missed the cheek
On whose cheek are my roses and apples.
That had my rose and my apple.

فمنthen who مناديَّmy caller بإصلاحيfor my restoration

This is my tale, O Most High,
Who, then, will call out for my restoration?
So who will call out for my reform?
