إذا أراد سقوطاً ريع أو زيدا
It is as though his eyelids were the two wingtips of a skittish, frightened bird.
As though his eyelids fell, startled and scared,
Whenever it tries to alight, it is startled or terrified.
Whenever he wanted to fall back asleep.

It thought the darkness a cat with rending claws,
He thought the darkness was a cat with sharp claws
And dawn an eagle; so it never ceases to be terrified.
And the dawn an eagle, so he couldn't rest again.
