أرى طُهراً سيثمر بعد عُرْسٍ

أرى طُهراً سيثمر بعد عُرْسٍ

كما قد تثمرُ الطربَ المدامَهْ

كما قد تثمرُ الطربَ المدامَهْ

I see a circumcision that will bear fruit after a wedding,

I see purity that will bear fruit after a wedding

just as wine may yield delight.

As wine glasses bear joy after being filled

وما قلمٌ بمغنٍ عنكَ إلا

وما قلمٌ بمغنٍ عنكَ إلا

إذا ما أُلْقِيَتْ منه القلامَه

إذا ما أُلْقِيَتْ منه القلامَه

And no pen is of any use to you except

And a pen is no substitute for you

when its shavings have been cast away.

Unless it has been dipped in ink
