How often he sought my death and felt no scruple—
How eagerly he sought to kill me, yet felt no shame
He who roasts my heart with the fire of my love for him.
With the fire of his love searing my heart

A young gazelle—passion demands a heart
Passion demanded a heart enslaved to love and yearning
Bridled for passion and saddled for longing.
Submissive to passion and longing, harnessed and controlled

Upon your kingly, crimson-dyed cheek:
On your cheek, more vibrant than lilac in full bloom
