أعزرْhow grievous (likely intended reading) عليَّfor me بأنin that أزورَكَI visit you ياO أخيmy brother
فيin منزلٍa dwelling ناءٍfar away عنfrom الزوَّارِvisitors
How grievous it is for me to visit you, my brother,
How grievous it is for me to visit you, my brother,
in a dwelling far removed from visitors.
in a dwelling far from visitors.
خَلَّيتَyou left behind دُوركyour homes واتساعَand the spaciousness فضائهاof their grounds

You left your homes and all their spacious breadth,
You left your homes and their spacious grounds,
exchanging them for the narrowest abode.
exchanging them for the narrowest dwelling.
فلئنْyet if indeed حَمَانيhas barred me منfrom لقائِكَmeeting you ماwhatever حمىkept away
فترحُّميthen my prayers for mercy يلقاكَreach you واستغفارِيand my prayers for forgiveness
Though whatever bars me from meeting you has barred me,
Yet if whatever kept me away has barred me from meeting you,
my prayers for mercy will meet you, and my pleas for forgiveness.
then my prayers for mercy and forgiveness reach you.
