ثم فُوهُ برؤٌ وعيناه نُكْس

In him is snow, and in him, within the snow, is fire.
In him there is ice and in the ice there is fire
In him is night, and in him, within the night, is a sun.

كلُّall أجفانهhis eyelids سيوفٌswords وماand not ليfor me
كلُّ أجفانه سيوفٌ وما لي
غيرother than قلبيmy heart إذاwhen انتضاهنَّhe unsheathes them تُرْسa shield
غير قلبي إذا انتضاهنَّ تُرْس
All his eyelids are swords, and I have no

دقَّbecame subtle فيin حسنهhis beauty وجلَّand became sublime فأضحىso he became
دقَّ في حسنه وجلَّ فأضحى
هُوَhe طوراًat times يخفىis hidden وطوراًand at times يُحَسُّis perceived
هُوَ طوراً يخفى وطوراً يُحَسُّ
He grew subtle and sublime in his beauty, and so now
He knocked on beauty and excelled, so he became
he is at times hidden, and at times perceived.
