يَزيدُincreases الفِقْهَjurisprudence والفُقهاءَand the jurists حُبَّاًlove
يَزيدُ الفِقْهَ والفُقهاءَ حُبَّاً
إِلىto قَلبيmy heart فقيهُthe jurist of بَنِيthe sons of يَزِيدِYazid
إِلى قَلبي فقيهُ بَنِي يَزِيدِ
He makes jurisprudence and the jurists dearer
My heart's affection for jurisprudence and jurists grows
to my heart—the jurist of Banu Yazid.
The jurist of the clan of Yazid is wise
تَناهَىreached the utmost ثمَّthen زادَincreased علىbeyond التَّناهِيthe utmost
تَناهَى ثمَّ زادَ على التَّناهِي
وأشرَفَand was on the verge أنْof يَزيدَincreasing علىbeyond المَزيدِfurther increase
وأشرَفَ أنْ يَزيدَ على المَزيدِ
He reached the utmost, then went beyond the utmost,
It has reached its limit then exceeded limits
and was poised to surpass increase itself.
And it aspires to exceed the exceeded
أبَاO father of الحَسَنِal-Hasan ابْتَدِيbegin عمراًa lifetime مداهُits span
أبَا الحَسَنِ ابْتَدِي عمراً مداهُ
مَدَىthe span of لُبَدٍLubad ولَيسَand is not مدَىthe span of لَبِيدِLabid
مَدَى لُبَدٍ ولَيسَ مدَى لَبِيدِ
O Abu al-Hasan, begin a lifetime whose span
O Abu Al-Hasan begin a life whose length
is that of Lubad, not that of Labid.
