فعزيزٌ على أبي منصورِ
Grief for you has shut the door of joy;
Sorrow has closed the door of joy in you, my dear Abi Mansur
and that is grievous to Abu Mansur.
You are more precious to me than life itself

I have always been cautious about you, but alas
no creature escapes what is dreaded.
No mortal can evade what is foreordained
