O night that rose under the most auspicious sign,

That vaunted itself above the light of radiant day,

بمحاسنٍ مقرونةٍ بمحاسنٍ

بمحاسنٍ مقرونةٍ بمحاسنٍ

وبدائعٍ موصولة ببدائع

وبدائعٍ موصولة ببدائع

With beauties coupled with beauties,

And marvels joined to marvels!

ضوءُ العُقارِ وضوءُ وَجْهكَ مازجاً

ضوءُ العُقارِ وضوءُ وَجْهكَ مازجاً

ضَوءَ الهلال وضَوءَ برقٍ لامع

ضَوءَ الهلال وضَوءَ برقٍ لامع

The glow of wine and the glow of your face mingled

With the crescent's glow and the light of flashing lightning,

فكأنما ألقى الدجى جِلْبابَه

فكأنما ألقى الدجى جِلْبابَه

وأراكَ جلبابَ النهارِ الناصع

وأراكَ جلبابَ النهارِ الناصع

So it was as though the darkness had cast off its cloak

And shown you the dazzling cloak of day.
