كأنما النرجس في روضه
إِذاwhen ثَنَتهُbends it الريحُthe wind منfrom قُرْبِnearby
إِذا ثَنَتهُ الريحُ من قُرْبِ
It is as though the narcissus in its garden,
when the wind bends it close at hand,
أَقداحُgoblets ياقوتٍruby تعاطيكهاhand them to you
أَقداحُ ياقوتٍ تعاطيكها
أناملٌfingertips منof لؤلؤٍpearl رطبmoist
أناملٌ من لؤلؤٍ رطب
were ruby goblets handed to you
by fingertips of moist pearl.
فيon الساعدthe forearm الأيمنِthe right خالٌa mole لهof his
في الساعد الأيمنِ خالٌ له
مثلُlike السويداءِthe small black spot علىupon القلبthe heart
مثلُ السويداءِ على القلب
On his right forearm is a mole,
like the dark spot upon the heart.
