ألمتَdid you find fault? لأنْbecause رأيتَyou saw ظروفَthe wrappings of شعريmy verse
علىover الأيّامِthe days مُخْلَقَةًworn-out لبيسهْthreadbare
Did you find fault because you saw the wrappings of my verse
worn and threadbare with the passing days?
لئنْeven if خَسَّسْتَyou belittle قيمةَthe worth of ظَرِفِthe casing of شعريmy verse
فظرفُthen the casing of الدرِّpearls قيمتُهُits worth خَسيسهis paltry
Even if you belittle the worth of my verse’s casing,
the casing of pearls, too, is of little worth.
