لا وانصباب مدامةٍ مشمولةٍ
كدمِlike the blood of الذبيحِthe slaughtered victim يصبُّis poured فيinto خرداذيa Khurdādhi goblet
كدمِ الذبيحِ يصبُّ في خرداذي
No—by the pouring of wine chilled by the north wind,
like the blood of the slain, poured into a Khurdādhi goblet,
فيin بطنِthe belly of جوهرةٍa jewel كأنas though فِرِنْدهاits lustre
في بطنِ جوهرةٍ كأن فِرِنْدها
ماءٌwater يذوَّبis dissolved فيهin it فصُّa gem بجاذيof garnet
ماءٌ يذوَّب فيه فصُّ بجاذي
in the belly of a jewel, as though its lustre were
water in which a garnet gem is dissolved.
