Abu Ishaq vanished into the earth—rather,

the lamp of the earth vanished into the earth.

The earth grew narrow for me after him,

so it has neither length nor breadth.

And Ibrahim was the sun of humankind,

and their full moon in ease and hardship.

My eyes wept for him—and beyond weeping—

until one part of me wept over another.
