جاءَhe came يَسعَىhe hastens إِلىto الصَّلاةِprayer بِوَجهٍwith a face
جاءَ يَسعَى إِلى الصَّلاةِ بِوَجهٍ
يُخْجِلُputs to shame البَدْرَthe full moon فيin بُروجِthe constellations of السُّعودِgood fortune
يُخْجِلُ البَدْرَ في بُروجِ السُّعودِ
He came hastening to prayer with a face
that puts the full moon to shame in the constellations of good fortune.
فَتَمنَّيْتُso I wished أنَّthat وَجْهِيَmy face أرْضٌground
فَتَمنَّيْتُ أنَّ وَجْهِيَ أرْضٌ
حينَwhen أَوْمَاhe inclined بِوَجْههِwith his face لِلسُّجُودِfor prostration
حينَ أَوْمَا بِوَجْههِ لِلسُّجُودِ
So I wished that my face were the ground
when he inclined his face to prostrate.
