بالحسن أحسانا من الواهب
How lovely it is—a pool singled out
Oh, beautiful one with blessings, Who has blessed
for beauty, a favor from the Giver!
Goodness with kindnesses from the Giver

راسية إثر القذى الراسب
As though the eyes, in its depths,
As if the eyes are deep within
lay anchored, following the sunken specks.
Remaining, leaving the motes behind

من سارق للب أو غاصب
Amid gardens whose expanses
Between gardens, graceful meadows
steal the heart or seize it by force,
From one who steals the heart or forcibly takes

some colored with none to color them,
What lies between what's dyed without a dyer
and some dyed with none to dye them.
And what's colored without a painter

مثل انسلال المرهف القاضب
And a stream slips out of a stream,
And a stream that flows from a stream
like the drawing of a keen, cleaving blade.
Like the unsheathing of a polished sword

And the birds: some rejoicing, laughing
And birds-some happy, laughing
there, and some downcast, lamenting;
Others melancholy, weeping

and one crying in anguish to one present,
I cry out to one who's present
and one calling in longing to one absent.
And yearn for one who's absent
