مجدولةٌbraided فيin قدهاher form
مجدولةٌ في قدها
تحكيresembles لناfor us قدَّthe stature of الأسَلْthe rush
تحكي لنا قدَّ الأسَلْ
Braided in her form,
Slender in her stature
she recalls for us the stature of a rush.
She tells of the glory of past days
كأنهاas though she were عمرُthe lifetime of الفتىthe young man
كأنها عمرُ الفتى
والنارand the fire فيهاwithin her كالأجَلlike death
والنار فيها كالأجَل
She is like a young man's lifetime,
As though she were the life of a young man
and the fire within her is like death.
With fire burning within like fate
