لمhas not يَنْأgrown distant مَنْhe whose لمhas not ينأgrown distant حُسنُthe beauty of وَفائِهِhis loyalty
لم يَنْأ مَنْ لم ينأ حُسنُ وَفائِهِ
وَكريمُand the nobility of عشرتهِhis companionship وصِدْقُand the sincerity of إخائِهhis brotherhood
وَكريمُ عشرتهِ وصِدْقُ إخائِه
He has not grown distant whose fine loyalty has not grown distant,
Nor his noble companionship and sincere brotherhood.
كالبدرِlike the full moon يبعدُis far away فيin السّماءِthe sky مَحَلُّهُits abode
كالبدرِ يبعدُ في السّماءِ مَحَلُّهُ
وكأنَّهُand it is as though it were مَعَناwith us لِقُرْبِbecause of the nearness of ضِيائِهِits light
وكأنَّهُ مَعَنا لِقُرْبِ ضِيائِهِ
Like the full moon, whose abode is far away in the sky,
Yet it seems to be with us, so near is its light.
