أواحَزَني عصاني الصبرُ لكن

أواحَزَني عصاني الصبرُ لكن

دموعُ العين سامعةٌ مُطيعَهْ

دموعُ العين سامعةٌ مُطيعَهْ

Alas, my grief! Patience disobeyed me, but

My patience is grieved though it obediently bears

the eye's tears are listening and obedient.

The tears welling out of my eyes when you are not here

وكنتِ وديعةً ثم استرِدَّت

وكنتِ وديعةً ثم استرِدَّت

وليس بمُنكَرٍ ردُّ الوديعَه

وليس بمُنكَرٍ ردُّ الوديعَه

And you were a trust, then were reclaimed;

You were so gentle and sweet but then sadly withdrew

and returning the trust is not blameworthy.

No surprise that a loaned thing returns back to its owner anew
