وَحقّكَby your honor ماnot خَضَبتُI dyed مَشِيبَthe gray hair of رأسيmy head
رجاءَin the hope أنْthat يْدومَwould endure ليَfor me الشَّبابُyouth
By your honor, I did not dye the gray hair of my head
In the hope that youth would endure for me;
ولكنّيbut I خَشيتُfeared يُرادُwould be sought مِنّيfrom me

But I feared they would look to me for
The wisdom of the gray-haired, and fail to find it.
